Syrupwaffles workshop in Alkmaar, a fun workshop that you will not soon forget. Syrupwaffles are famous in the Netherlands and all over the world. During this workshop you will make your own stroopwafels and we will take a short city walk through Alkmaar if the dough needs a rest.
Syrupwaffles were first made in the nineteenth century in Gouda, which is why this type of cake is also known as Gouda waffle. Syrupwaffles were made at that time from old biscuit chips, dough scraps and syrup and were therefore very cheap. In the 19th century, they were also called poor cookies. During this workshop we will start making the dough for the syrupwaffles. When the dough needs to rest, we will walk through Alkmaar.
During the short city walk I tell something about the history of Alkmaar and I show you the places of Alkmaar, which you will not easily come across yourself.
When we have got a breath of fresh air, we can start baking the syrupwaffles. And although the shape does not always work, we can summarize the taste in one word every time: delicious!
We will also decorate the syrupwaffles, with chocolate icing, delicious m & m’s, oreo pieces and other delicious toppings.
